Codman Square Health Center is a community-based, outpatient health care and multi-service center dedicated to improving the physical, mental and social well-being of the community. It opened in 1979 with the philosophy that individual health depends on a good community environment and has since become one of the outstanding health centers in America.
More than 20 years ago, MDS was engaged by Codman Square Health Center to help expand its facilities in the heart of Dorchester's Codman Square. The 18,000 sf addition includes the new Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Pediatric Wing, internal medicine clinics, urgent care, clinical labs, and conference facilities. The main Washington Street facade is designed with classic red brick and metal panels to relate to historic Codman Square and express the Health Center’s prominent role in neighborhood revival.

Codman Academy Charter Public School initial high school facilities
Codman Academy Charter Public School
A unique community partnership, Codman Square Health Center leases approximately 2,000 sf its ground-floor to Codman Academy Charter Public School. MDS designed Codman Academy's initial high school facilities. The firm was later re-engaged by the school to design its K-8 lower school in the historic Lithgow Building in Codman Square.
